Unprotected sex

If you’ve had unprotected sex (e.g. the condom broke, you didn’t use one, or you forgot to take your pill), Family Planning NZ has created an easy checklist that covers what you need to know (and do) over the next few weeks to look after yourself.

Check it out here:

If you are are choosing to have unprotected sex, it’s really important that you talk to your partner/s about the state of your sexual health - when was the last time each of you was tested for STIs? Discuss the risks involved in having unprotected sex.

Remember, your decision is important, as some STIs can be cured but some can’t, including HIV and herpes. To ensure the health of yourself and your partner/s, it’s best that you all get a STI check before having unprotected sex.
